Our next MeteoMeet No.13 will take place on December 2nd and there will be a presentation by Georg Mayr, professor and study advisor at the Department of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences (ACINN). All info will be sent out via the mailing list or shared here.
The current situation and ensuing cancelled conferences in the last year drastically reduced existing networking opportunities in science, which impacts especially early career scientists (ECS). Therefore the MeteoXchange project aims to become a new platform with networking opportunities for young atmospheric scientists from all over the world. In addition, previous activities geared towards atmospheric early-career scientists such as networking events and respective meet-upswere usually embedded within larger societies, such as the European Geophysical Union (EGU), and conducted jointly with these annual meetings. While we of course value the interdisciplinarity of existing networks such as the Young Earth System Scientists (YESS), we feel that it would be more than beneficial to create and promote network activities specifically for atmospheric ECS. Our planed activities include the compensating of the pandemic-related deficit with respect to informal networking at conferences through virtual meet-ups, travel grants and a virtual conference in March 2022. Our virtual events, so called MeteoMeet‘s, will be offered on a regular basis (once a month) via the wonder.me platform to promote exchange.
We started a mailing list, provided by the University Bonn. Information on events for early career scientists in the field of atmospheric sciences within the MeteoXchange project are provided regularly via this mailing list. Here you find further information how to subscribe!
